Our Goal
Since its inception in 1989, the Actuarial Students’ National Association (ASNA) has been a pillar of support for students across over a dozen universities. Throughout the years, ASNA has tirelessly provided countless professional development opportunities to the Canadian actuarial community, nurturing a reputation for excellence within our field. Guided by a strategic vision, we have worked diligently to establish ourselves as a trusted resource for aspiring actuaries, striving to make a meaningful impact on their educational and professional journeys. Our core mission is to inspire and educate the next generation of actuarial leaders, offering a wide range of unique opportunities at the national level to foster growth and success for all.

Welcome to the Actuarial Students’ National Association (ASNA).
ASNA is where Canada’s future actuarial leaders connect, learn and grow together. Since 1989, our student-run organization has provided professional and peer support to students across the Canadian actuarial community. With the generous support from the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and our sponsors, we’ve experienced tremendous growth year after year. Our annual flagship convention brings together students and industry professionals from across the country for three days of networking and development.
Beyond the convention, ASNA runs year-round programs designed to empower and connect students across North America. Initiatives such as our nationwide peer mentorship program, info sessions, monthly webinars, newsletters, and podcasts provide students with opportunities to interact with sponsors and fellow students. These programs reflect our mission and vision to prepare students for success in the global risk and insurance landscape, while building ASNA as a leading platform for high-caliber actuarial talent across North America. In 2026, we reached 900 students and 52 sponsors. As president this year, I aim to continue this momentum by focusing on three key pillars:
- Expanding and consolidating strategic partnership: Diversify our sponsor base while deepening relationships with existing partners through greater value creation and a standardized engagement model.
- Elevating student experience: Broaden year-round programming and enrich convention offerings to build stronger bonds and lasting experiences.
- Building an inclusive community: Strengthen ties between ASNA and member universities’ actuarial clubs while actively connecting students across schools and exploring cross-border collaboration to build a more unified and accessible actuarial network.
