Past Executives

Executives (2010 - 2011)

Have you ever been curious about the faces behind ASNA? These individuals are responsible for overseeing various committees and help drive ASNA to become the success it is each year.

Femi Olamijulo

My name is Femi and I will be beginning my final year as an Economics major and Statistics minor at the University of Toronto this fall. This is my second year with ASNA, and I served as Secretary of the association prior to this.

My focus this year will be on fostering more of a communal feeling within ASNA, and engaging full participation of every single delegate, as I believe we have a number of great minds amongst us. I also want to work on expansion this year, and make ASNA more recognized not just for the convention, but as the first stop for answers for actuarial students in North America.

In my spare time, I like to chill, travel, dance and daydream about being a fellow.

Let's make ASNA rock this year!

Charles Chiu

VP Ontario

My name is Charles Chiu, 3rd year Actuarial Science specialist in UofT. I was born in Canada but I grew up in Hong Kong. This coming year would be the third year I am back in Canada since I was born. I am a big basketball fan and also quite a technology fan. So when you see me, hit me with a topic related to I.T. or basketball then you have got yourself a conversation going. Anyway I am glad to be this year’s VP Ontario and hopefully this year’s ASNA convention will be as good as the past years. Hope to meet you all in the ASNA convention!

- Employer Expansion
- Student Expansion

Paul D'Cruz

Convention Committee Chair

I am in my final year at the University of Western Ontario where I will be graduating with an Honors Specialization in Actuarial Science degree in April 2011. My first experience with ASNA came at the Quebec City convention this past January and it was also where my desire to bring the ASNA convention to the city of London began. I am very excited about being this year's Convention Committee Chair and welcoming ASNA's members and sponsors to the London Convention Center. My focus for this year's convention is to make it more accessible for every students from all of ASNA member universities. In my spare time (any I don't have nearly enough to spare) I enjoy traveling, cars, computers and hockey. GO LEAFS GO!!!

Kristina Lucas

Future Actuary

I am entering my last year of a combined program and will be graduating in April 2011 with an Actuarial Science degree from the University of Western Ontario and a business degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business. I have worked as a pension analyst at Aon Consulting, an investment banking analyst at Greenhill & Co. and most recently as a valuation analyst at London Life. I am a member of the LEADER Project, a group of students from Ivey who travel to former Soviet republics and teach business cases; in May 2010 I spent two weeks in Skopje, Macedonia with participants from the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce. I love to read and travel and am trying to teach myself a bit about photography, much to the amusement of my mom who I spent twenty years telling to "stop taking so many pictures".

Karan Phadke

VP Finance

My name is Karan, I am entering my third year at UofT and will be serving you in my role as VP Finance. I have been with ASNA since first year, with my prior position being in the Website committee. The goals for the Finance portfolio this year include streamlining reimbursement calculations, improving financial transparency and improving the speed and efficacy with which our funds are put into action. We believe that by creating a solid foundation for the finance function, the overall convention experience will be enhanced for all students.

In my spare time, when I am not studying for actuarial exams or working for ASNA, I enjoy taking long walks on the beach and candlelit dinners. I am also looking forward to meeting new students and old friends from across the country at the 2011 convention, but till then, I wish you the best of luck with school, work and exams!

Siew Ming Yeo

I am a student at the University of Toronto entering my third year of study and this is my first time working with ASNA. As Secretary and member of the Finance Team, I will do my best to assist the president and help out wherever I can. This is my first year in helping out with ASNA so I hope that this year’s convention will be a great success!

Simon Provencher

VP Quebec

I am from the beautiful city of Québec, where I study at Université Laval. As VP of the province of the same name, I will ensure all Québec students have the opportunity to take part in the convention. I am also head of publicity, so my artistic and marketing skills will be put to the test this year! I wish everyone an excellent school year, and would like to give out a special welcome to all new students entering the fascinating field of actuarial sciences.
